Post Autumn Royale: EoTD

Hi everyone! Today I have a review of the products that I wore on my face today. I have pictures from the beginning of the day an hour or so after initial application, as well as at the end of the day, after about six or seven hours. 

Right off the bat, I was dealing with a swollen and runny eye, so I was a little afraid of doing anything too elaborate. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Normally, when my eyes are giving me issues I stick to a simple matte look, but I wasn't in the mood for mattes today. As I was doing my makeup, I was watching a video with Nisipisa, who was doing a really pretty pink-toned look, with shimmer. 

So I was inspired. I used two palettes: The Norvina Palette and the Good Sport Palette. These complement each other nicely because Norvina skews a little more cold and GS much warmer, so even though you'll see I was using mostly warm neutrals and golds, there was something a bit elaborate or decadent (in my humble opinion) about the eyelook. 

So, what did I do?  After priming my eyes, I set my brow  and crease with the shade Base from the Norvina palette, and then I used the shade trooper from The Good Sport pallete. Trooper is a lovely golden yellow matte that makes a perfect transition shade.  It blends very easily. After setting down Trooper, I blended in Eccentric from the Norvina palette. Eccentric is a yellow-toned caramel matte brown. I also set that down on my lid and blended it into the crease. 

Then, I took the shade Wild Out from The Good Sport palette, which is a lovely toasted golden shimmer, and put that on the inner part of my lid. On the center of my lid, I blended in Dazzling, a red-toned brown shimmer, to deepen the shimmer on my lid.  I took the shade Passion from the Norvina palette, a  red toned dark shade, and blended that carefully on the outer corner. Finally, I took the shade Licious from the GS palette, which is a very vibrant golden-yellow shimmer, and popped that on the inner corner. 

Though I was concerned about my eyes today, they held up pretty well, and I ended up really liking the look. I think I liked it so much because of how I paired the inner corner shimmer with the transition shade. I think I'm going to try to do this a lot where I match those colors. It made the look cohesive and fun. 

The only other notable product I used today is the blush, a new purchase from T.J. Maxx, the Lipstick Queen blush Frog Price, which I purchased for $6.00. I knew it was a creme blush that was green in the pan, but on my face it created a natural rosy flush that lasted the entire day. I never had a blush do that before, so I am quite impressed with it and can easily see how I will use that entire product up.

 How did I get this look? I used the following products:

-Wet 'n Wild Eyeshadow Primer

-BH Cosmetics Take Me Back to Brazil Palette
-Colourpop Good Sport Palette
-Colourpop Single Team Captain
-Looxi Green Apple Eyeshadow Single
-LA Splash Ark-i-tekt Limer
-Essence Lash Princess Mascara

 -After applying primer, I used the chartreuse pigment in the BH Cosmetics palette. As discussed elsewhere on the blog, it is probably one of the better shades, quality wise, in the palette. I ran that in the crease and up towards the brow bone.

-I then took Green Apple and blended that into the crease and on the lid.

-I then took, very carefully, Team Captain from CP, and Trophies from the GS palette, and blended that into the outer corner.

-To diffuse the look a bit more, I used the chartreuse pigment again, blending it down a bit towards my lower lash line.

-Finally, I used two shimmers from the Good Sport palette, after applying glitter glue to the first half of my lid. I used the gold shimmer Licious in the inner corner and inner part of the lid, and then the green shimmer EBB on the rest of lid, as seen below.

All in all I really like this look and would probably wear it again. Maybe not to work, though....

Colourpop The Good Sport Palette: Review and Swatches

Usually I like to wait for reviews to come out before I buy a palette, but when I saw previews of the Good Sport palette, I did not wait. The autumnal color scheme just spoke to me.

This was the very first Colourpop 12-pan palette that I have ever purchased. I do have some singles, both matte and shimmer. 

This palette cost $16.00, about $21, with shipping. A full size CP single shadow contains 1.5 g of product, while the shades in this palette are each 1 g of product, which I think is an excellent value.

The above swatches is the first row of shades. 

1.) Wild Out: A champagne shimmer. It is a bit darker than Stila Kitten. It is very creamy and works well with both warm and cool shades. 

2.)Hooky: This is an extremely pigmented but soft brown-orange. It reminds me of Realgar from Modern Renaissance. This was a shade that was very easy to work with. 

3.) Rookie: A brilliant copper shimmer packed with blue micro glitters. I was concerned that the blue glitters could potentially fall out, but that did not happen. The formulation of this shade is really impressive. 

4.) Sista: 😞😞😞

This is a matte fuchsia. The formulation was terrible. It would not adhere to the skin unless the lid was tacky- very difficult for me to blend in the crease. I could not even swatch this with my finger, but even with a brush I had to be careful because it would blend away to nothing.

5.)Licious: A slightly green-toned yellow gold shimmer. The same excellent formula as Wild Out.

6.) High Hopes: Reminds me of Oatmeal Tan from Coastal Scents. A lighter warm brown matte. Very creamy and blendable.

7.) Reckless: A deeper matte eggplant/aubergine. This was a brush swatch on dry un-primed skin because finger swatches were not possible. It was not as blendable as the other mattes, but I could still work with it.

8.) Trooper: My favorite shade, a slightly orange toned golden rod matte. I am very pleased with this shadow because it does not change color in the crease, which happens often with me when using shades like this. This shadow is very blendable and pigmented.

 And finally, the last row.

9.) Hooked: A slightly olive-toned taupe shimmer. I love shimmers like these. They feel sophisticated to me.

10.) Trophies: A cool-toned dark brown. The formulation on this is excellent- soft and easy to work with.

11.) EBB: A stunning yellow-toned green shimmer. Excellent formulation.

12.) Flow: Out of all the matte purples in this palette, this one got the most mileage from me. Pigmentation was excellent, but it was not as soft as the other neutral mattes n the palette.

Let's look at some eye looks:

 In the above, I had Sista on the lid, Wild and Out on the inner corner, and Flow and Reckless in the crease and outer corner. I also glued some glitter from Amerikan Body Art on the inner corner as well. I hated this look, and this was my second time trying to use the purples. I don't mid how the outer corner looks, I just really do not like the sharp line on my lid. Blending did take a long time, though. The first time around I tried using Sista in the crease and that was a hot mess.

This look was in conjunction with the Norvina palette. I used Volatile, a taupe, in the crease, and Trophies then blended in on the outer corner. I used Hooked on the lid, and then a glitter from Amerikan Body Art- Cosmic Collision, on top of that. I really liked how simple but multi-layered this was.

This is like a staple look from me, but it's kind of rough. An improved version of this look can be found below:

So, I have Trooper in the crease, High Hopes in the crease and lid, and Hooky and Reckless on the outer corner. It is kind of hard to see, but Licious is in the inner corner. I like this look a lot. 

Final thoughts:

I really like the formulation of almost all of these shadows, except what was going on with the purples. That's a shame to me, because the purples are- for me- part of the selling point. I am not saying they are they worst ever. 2 out of 3 of them are usable ( I do consider Sista unusable), they just take a bit more effort.

All in all, I am happy to have this palette, and look forward to using more of it!
